Agricultural Buildings Bedfordshire
Right up until the late 19th century, Bedfordshire was chiefly an agricultural county. Known originally as a sheep-farming district in Tudor times, by the 18th century it was shifting to the development of market gardening. A variety of vegetables, including carrots, potatoes and onions and Brussels sprouts were transported first by canal, and then by rail to London.
21st century Bedfordshire is no longer known for its agriculture, although the Bedfordshire Growers co-operative keeps the market gardening tradition alive in the county. Farming remains an important part of Bedfordshire, though, and there are currently 163 working farms within the county boundary. Integrity Steel Buildings is proud to supply agricultural buildings in Bedfordshire for a whole range of purposes.
